Between the period of 2 to 7 of November 2019, the CDWS(The chamber of diving and water sports) attended a one of kind workshop in Alexandria!
Under the title of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization’s UNESCO role in the preservation of underwater cultural heritage in Egypt, CDWS along with other workers from the country’s various ministries underwent an intensive workshop to learn about the country’s hidden underwater heritage and the tools to preserve it.
The five-day workshop took place at the Alexandria Centre for Maritime Archaeology & Underwater Cultural Heritage at Alexandria University with the cooperation of the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science, and Culture at the Ministry of Higher Education, the UNESCO Office in Cairo, and the Ministry of Antiquities.
The workshop included number of lectures on various topics related to the underwater cultural heritage, as well as a set of practical training on the recording, documentation, restoration, and maintenance of submerged monuments, as well as how to work the three-dimensional digital models of archaeological sites.
